this piece links to bill english vowing to halve the number of new zealanders who leave to live in aussie..
..he bangs on the usual flannel about tax cuts..etc..
..woo.hoo..!..that ain’t gonna be enough ..!..bill..!
..and english fails to mention one of the main reasons for the wage-gap between here and aussie..
..namely..our low minimum wage..
..now..this comes up for review in december..
..and if english follows the pattern he/national set last time they were in power..
..whereby in nine years they raised the minimum wage once..by the princely sum of 87 cents..
..(and that only because peters screwed that out of them as part of a coalition deal..(!)..
..english will not raise the minimum wage next month..
..and will be a proven working lie to his claims/crocodile tears over ‘wage-gaps with aussie’..
..and his (heartfelt) vows ‘to change that’..
..y’see..!..it sticks in englishs’/nationals’ ideological craw to raise wages for workers..
..after all…keys’ centrist platitudes to one side..he/they are ‘the bosses’ party’..
..eh..?
..and it would seem we will be seeing nationals’ true colours sooner rather than later..
..and of course..should national/key not do what needs to be done…they will only be a one-term government..
..and national will be out for another nine years..
..something for key/english/national to ponder on/argue over..
..before they make any decisions on the raising..or not..of the minimum wage..
..(n.b..labour raised the minimum wage from $7 to $12…
..something for those lower-paid workers who liked mr keys’ smile..and wanted/voted for a ‘change’..
..to ponder on..maybe even to rue..?
