(then the quote that drew howls of derision….)

(ed:..a rousing speech from goff…that showed up the shallowness of the offerings from key…)

metiria turei (greens..) told the tale of her father ..(maori..)..who suffered under the ‘reforms’ of the 80′s..
..and died prematurely…
..she calls for minimum wage to rise to $15 per hr..
(turei has been heckled thru her speech..and tariana turia interrupts..and calls a point of order…asking for the heckling to stop…
..speaker smith then lambastes national mp’s for their discourtesies..
(ed:..and i reckon that green mp kennedy graham has one of the best death-stares going…)
turei tells of her times..leaves school at 16..sole-mum..goes to uni..using training allowances (axed by key/bennett..)..
..noting that bennett used that same ladder from poverty…and then pulled that ladder away from other sole-parents…
(ed:..thus earning the moniker ‘the aspostate’….)
..calls for benefit rise…
calls for state house building program..6,000 over three years..
..this wd create 28,000 jobs..and wd help the ailing construction industry…

..a pitiful effort from him..with douglas behind him yawning right on cue…)

apologises for the shocking stats for maori…
..attacks labour for their years of disregard…
and attacks national for not doing anything…not being bold enough…
calls for social investment in our future…
calls for policies that are right fair and just…
calls for minimum wage to be raised to $15..
and scorns the ‘miserable 25 cents’ ..
..(ed: a powerful speech for turia…and wd show her as being more ideologically in tune with proposed/heralded labour policies..)
jim anderton then gave a rousing renunciation of privatising state assets..telling powerful tales from the last time around..
..and the speech is well worth a watch/listen…anderton is roaring..
it was then peter dunnes’ turn..
and i’m sorry..i tried..i really tried..and i promised myself i wouldn’t mention his hair..
…but..he started talking….and after about three cliches on the trot…my brain ..by default..clicked off..
..and i was drawn to watching that hair..and musing/wondering just how much product he uses on it…
‘cos..in his pretend-passion..he was shaking his head ..and not a hair on that head wd move..
..it was all rigid…
..and i was left wondering up to what force wellington gale it could withstand…
..and i totally missed his pearls of wisdom…
(ed:..in summary…key was a joke..
goff was on fire..
turei was on fire..
turia was on fire..
anderton was on fire..
hide and dunne were jokes…
in the first line i said the experience was better than i expected..
..that was because you can watch these speeches..and you couldn’t have a clearer picture of our current state…
…and where we are heading…
..and if you doubt my words/assesments…the whole exercise is repeated on parliamentary telly at 6 pm tonight…
..so you cd make yr own judgements…eh..?)
