bloody helll…!..there i was thinking/saying that ‘i don’t cover/do much sport’….
..then as a reaction to a rugby-heads’ claim in the media today that there was ‘unanimous support’ for the rugby world cup when the rights were awarded….
..i keyed ‘rugby world cup’ into the whoar-search-engine…
..and yes….my first comment..(in nov 2005)…was a ‘yes..!..against all odds/economic benefits to flow’ sorta headline…
..then second-thoughts set in…
…and (what is) the extensive coverage from late 2005 to now…
..gains a new emphasis/piquancy with the benefits of hindsight..
(me fretting over a (small-change) thirty mill over-run…if only eh..?..)
..and if nothing else is a record/litany of the lies we have been told/spun…
..and i should note there are more than a few laughs on this whoar-journey to the cup..(not all involuntary..)
..and the collection of ‘stories’ has much to offer both rugby-heads…and rugby-cynics..
