armstrong also asks/expects all to cry him a river over the trials/travails of the life of the jaunting/paid-hack…(ed:..heh..!..)
..and whines/whinges/excuses about why they usually fail at reporting anything of any substance/worth..(!)
..and one thing funny..and one thing disturbing..
..funny first:..armstrong calls edwards-the-younger a ‘leftie’…
(ed:..i wd describe edwards-the-younger as more of an ideological-gadfly..leavened with a strong thread of tabloid-populism..
..one whose politics may depend on who he is talking to..
..funny moment on weekend political telly the other week..
..edwards-the-younger got over-excited..and in a fit of retro/futuristic cold war sabre-rattling/alarmism..
..made the somewhat hysterical claim that we ‘will be forced to choose between china and america’..
..the other two ‘experts’ present laughed him out of the room..
..and of course there is edwards’ palpable/puppy-like desire to prove his credentials/suitability as an ‘acceptable-gatekeeper’..
(tho’ credit where due..and all that..the roundup of what some bloggers/websites are saying that edwards-the-younger does is usually useful.. )
..and the thing disturbing is armstrongs’ apparant view that the t.p.p. deal being negotiated in secret to all but the corporates running it will be an act of beneficence for us all..
..with two major journalistic-fails on armstrongs’ part screaming out for attention..
..one is his apparant lack of awareness of the firestorm of international concern over this deal..
(could i modestly suggest he do a t.p.p.-search in the whoar searchengine..?
..that will at the very least deliver him up a primer on this subject/these concerns…)
..and the other is his urgings that we should just all wait for the government to tell us what they are going to do..(!)..
..as far as t.p.p.-awareness is concerned..armstrong is clearly an empty/windswept-lot..
..maybe he needs to dig out that musty/dusty-handbook on just what it is the fourth estate is actually meant to do..?
..and i also wonder if armstrong has read much campbell..(the ‘gordon’ one)..
..as campbell largely does what armstrong is tasked/paid to do..
..to provide intelligent/astute political commentary..
..and armstrong wraps up his anti-blogger polemic (‘parasites’?) with the urgings his employers put him and the other ‘paid-journalists’ behind a paywall..
..which..given the largely tabloid/supermarket-giveaway/un-imperative nature of said publication..
..must set a new benchmark in turkeys wishing for thanksgiving..
..eh..?
..and if armstrong wants to see some intelligent commentary from the mainstream on that jaunt he moaned about…
..he could watch coffey interviewing dann (the corin one) on breakfast television last saturday..
(i know..!..i know..!..saturday breakfast television..!..who’d a thunk it..?..eh..?..)
