disputed-claim:..in his afternoon show on national radio jim mora has often expressed his concerns/alarm at the very idea that cannabis now is much stronger than it used to be..’back in the day’..
..and mora also spoke of pot-smokers nowadays running the risk of ‘serious’ mental/psychotic-issues..
..mora has made these two claims on numerous occaisons..
..and hence he needs to be fact-checked:..
1)..as someone old enough to have smoked pot ‘back in the day’.. and as one who still uses the herb..
..i can confirm that in the main pot is no stronger now than then..
..and of course that anecdotal-evidence is confirmed by what must be the most reliable/accurate gauge in these matters..
..namely the scientific-evidence of the cannabis that has been part of court-cases..over the decades..pot that has been ‘busted’..
..and looking at those records both here and in america..there is confirmation that the active-ingredient level in pot has barely changed between then and now..
..q.e.d..eh..?
2)..and of course this misinformation-mischief is bandied about to alarm current parents who smoked pot when young..
..hearing these tales of psychotic-episodes (rightly) raises their concerns about their offspring..
..the second fact disabuses those concerns..
..and that was recent evidence from the doctor in charge of the wellington hospital a&e..for some years.
..who noted that alcohol is the main drug problem new zealand has..
..and here is the nub..that in all those years in a&e..he has never had a patient overdosed on cannabis…
..no one…
..no ‘psychotic-episodes/issues’..
..so if i could just arc back to my original anecdotal-claim/evidence..
..i will just say that good pot is good pot…and always has been..
..both then..and now..
..and of course the reality is..if you are lucky enough to fluke some quality-pot..
..you just need to smoke less..eh..?
..i hope jim mora gets to see this..as i admire so much of what else he does…
..and i hope he checks those facts i have presented..
..and either corrects his previous mistakes on this issue..
..or at the very least..does a ‘cease and desist’ on uttering/perpetrating such errors in fact..
