“..The Government will outline today how it plans to ease pressure on the housing market – admitting it is likely to create “tensions” with local councils.
Finance Minister Bill English has indicated the reforms will open up more land on urban brownfield land and greenfield sites on the outskirts of cities.
It will include changes to local government and resource consent laws.
The announcement is likely to be a bit of a damp squib -
- with even Mr English admitting National is “being pretty careful . . . I wouldn’t get expectations too high.”

(ed:..now colour me cynical…but somehow i think these housing ‘reforms’ will help little except property developers…(cutting their costs/overheads)..
..and those elites that have land-banks on the outskirts of auckland..(so they can cash-up/in..
..i hope i am proved to be wrong..but i doubt it somehow..)
