“…Act leader John Banks sent internet tycoon Kim Dotcom a personal note thanking him for his “hospitality” after staying in Hong Kong…”

“..The note has emerged with details of a sumptuous gift hamper left for Mr Banks at the Grand Hyatt in Hong Kong.

The hamper – valued at more than $1000 – contained honey, hand-made chocolates, truffle pate and shortbread.

Mr Banks, who doesn’t drink alcohol, was also given wine, champagne and whisky.

It was delivered with a note reading: “Hi John, welcome to my town ;-) I wish you and your wife an amazing Christmas and the best new year ever. Your friend, Kim.”

In response, Mr Banks replied saying: “Thank you very much for your hospitality in Hong Kong. We have enjoyed our stay in ‘your town’ very much.”

The note is signed off with “warmest best” and dated December 30, 2011.

The notes were exchanged less than a month before armed police raided Dotcom’s $30 million home in Coatesville, north of Auckland, to arrest the millionaire on United States charges of criminal copyright violation…”
