ed:..i did a review of the nation yesterday..
..but in the replay this morn keith ng popped up to be quizzed on the winz-sieve..
..and did he deliver..!
..and in the process was shouldered with the role of speaking for/defending bloggers/blogging..
..against the sneers/smirks of old media..
..and as for the longterm public-relations/p.r.guy..brian edwards…
..surely it is time he was ushered off stage..?
..on each appearance he more and more morphs into one of those grumpy old blokes on the balcony in the muppets..
..and tho’ writing a blog himself..edwards made the astonishing claim that bloggers have none of the honesty-in-reporting/credibility-imperatives that the mainstream media did..
..ng was obviously rocked back on his heels at that stinker..but recovered to point out what drivel edwards was talking..
..and making the case those imperatives in the world of those bloggers attempting to treat seriously the work they do..are as strong as in the mainstream..
(ed:..and i would submit those factual-accuracy/credibility-imperatives for serious-bloggers ..tho’ self-shouldered..are even stronger..)
..and then in the middle of a lucid/coherent/interesting/unfolding answer from ng..edwards saw the need to bray over the top of him..to impart his opinion of the press council..(!)
..and then..after railing against the evils of the tobacco companies..(twice) he went on to cite other ‘evil’ trades..
..and in the process neatly sidestepping his poison of choice..and the ‘evils’ wrought there..namely alcohol..(hic..!..eh..?..eh..?..)
..and the topper was the claim from edwards that the second presidential debate did not make for exciting television..(!)..
(has the man still got a pulse..?..)
.and..yahaftasay..there is at least a pamphlet in the distanced/ridiculous pronouncements from brian edwards..
..a memorable ‘let them eat cake’/'distance’-calibrating moment from the p.r.-elder recently..
..was his sneer (i paraphrase) that ‘only idiots/morons watch television ads’..
..shaking his head in bemusement at these idiots/morons not utilising the ad-free options offered by my-sky..
(i mean..!..dosen’t everyone have my-sky..?..)
..nuff said..?
..who will pluck those motes from his eyes..?
..and will/would that be enough..?
